Photographic Community Event

It’s time to introduce ourselves and get to know the photographers that we follow on social media, learn new skills and broaden our horizons.

Fundamental Photography presents a photographic community event for local photographers to come together, enjoy each other’s company and watch a movie. The aim of the evening is to gather support for an ongoing group to meet monthly to expand creativity and rejuvenate our photographic mojo.
Any profits from the evening will go towards future events.

Upon purchasing your ticket, you can provide an image to be shown on the big screen. There will be time before the movie with a grazing platter and drinks on offer to meet and greet other photographers while you enjoy viewing a slideshow of photographs taken by the people present. A short presentation by Fundamental Photography will then be followed by “Lee” a movie based on the life of photographer Elizabeth ‘Lee’ Miller.

Synopsis:

Lee, the directorial feature from award-winning Cinematographer Ellen Kuras, portrays a pivotal decade in the life of American war correspondent and photographer, Lee Miller (Kate Winslet). Miller’s singular talent and unbridled tenacity resulted in some of the 20th century’s most indelible images of war,  Miller had a profound understanding and empathy for women and the voiceless victims of war. Her images display both the fragility and ferocity of the human experience. Above all, the film shows how Miller lived her life at full-throttle in pursuit of truth, for which she paid a huge personal price, forcing her to confront a traumatic and deeply buried secret from her childhood.

About Your Host

Paul Tidey

I enjoy all facets of photography and I have explored portraiture, sports, pet, motorsports, macro, high speed flash, studio, landscape and nature photography.

My passion is to teach everyone to love and enjoy photography as much as I do by sharing my experience. I genuinely love photography. I like to make sure that people have the right equipment for the job but also to teach people how to get the most out of the equipment they already have. There is so much more to photography than just ‘point and shoot’ and I love teaching the skills required to take a person’s photographs to the next level. With photography there is always something to learn, and you can continually build on your knowledge. After 36 years in this industry, I am still learning.
